Norfolk Expedition Challenge weekend Fri 14th (5:30pm) to Sun 16th Mar (5:00pm) Where: Roughton Mill Scout Centre, Old Mill Road, Roughton, Norfolk NR11 8PE
The objective for this weekend is for all Scouts to gain their Expedition Challenge Award. Take part in expedition planning by preparing a route plan, choosing food options and having the right kit and equipment Learning map reading and navigation skills Gain experience of expedition camping and cooking skills During the weekend complete a task, investigation, or exploration as agreed with your leader Prepare a short report and present it back to your group
Weekend outline Travel by minibus leaving Hertford at approx 5:30 pm Some Scouts may sleep indoors on arrival Friday night but all will camp Saturday night in the field at the center if the weather allows Scouts will be walking all day Saturday and half the day Sunday on routes which they have helped plan. They will walk in small groups with leader supervision. Walking routes will be on and around the North Norfolk Coast Path. We aim to return by approx 5pm on the Sunday.

County Cub Bushcraft Event Sat 15th Mar (8:30am - 4:45pm) Where: Tolmers Activity Centre
Two half day sessions for Cubs and Leaders to have a go at some basic Bushcraft activities. Talk to your leader if you would like to go!
This is a chance for both Cubs and Leaders to learn new Bushcraft skills. Teams of 4, 5 or 6 Cubs, supported by two leaders or parents, will rotate round four bases. A practical half day of outdoor activities so prepare for the weather! All participants will receive a badge and a certificate. The price per young person includes everything needed for the bases and refreshments for leaders! |
Swimming Gala - District Cubs Sat 22nd Mar (5:15pm - 7:15pm) Where: University of Hertfordshire Sports Village (de Havilland Campus) Swimming Pool, AL10 9EU
The event includes all activities needed to earn stage 1 Swimmer badge. This event has been designed so that even less confident swimmers can participate fairly with fun races and activities. The pool has 8 lanes and a large viewing area; the pool’s depth is being set to a suitable level so that less confident swimmers can build their confidence. All races will be 1 (25 metre) length. Included this year will be: * Front stroke, (with and without float) * Back stroke (with and without float), * Relay (any stroke, can be float assisted if needed) * Collect the floats game * Team challenge The emphasis is on fun and not Olympic standards! (and you can be entered for more than one event) |
Scouts Triathlon 2025 Sun 23rd Mar (10:00am - 2:00pm) Where: Lees Wood Scout and Guide Activity Centre, Fir Tree Hill, Chandlers Cross, WD3 4LY
The teams have to run 2 laps of Lees Wood nature trail – 2 km, cycle 2 laps of Whippendel Wood – 5 km, then do rifle shooting – 5 shots each |
St George's Day Parade and Celebration Sun 27th Apr (1:00pm - 3:30pm) Where: Castle Grounds, Hertford
Hertford Scouts would like to invite you, Rainbows, Beavers, Cubs, Brownies, Guides, Scouts, Rangers, Explorers, Young Leaders, Leaders, Scout Active Support Members, Parents and Public to join us in celebrating St George’s Day, the patron Saint of Scouting.
This year’s celebration will be taking place with the usual parade through Hertford followed by a celebration event. Young People, Leaders, parents, friends and everybody interested are welcome to join us at the celebration event, being part of our local community to which Hertford Scouts and Guides belong. Find your section leader on the path by the skate park on Hartham Common at 1:00pm ready to depart at 1:20pm.

ITTH - Introduction to the Hills Fri 2nd (12:00pm) to Mon 5th May (12:00pm) Where: Foundry Adventure centre, Peak District
Taking place in the Peak District, this jam packed popular camping weekend full of fun and adventure includes caving, outdoor climbing, cycling and hill walking for Guides and Scouts aged 11-13 years. Spaces will go fast, so don’t delay. Due to this event being extremely popular priority is given to first time attendees.
